Doesn’t Julio’s story sound like what happened to Stanley Shipp in Seattle years ago? He was accosted by a man with an ice pick who wanted Stanley’s wallet. Stanley said to the man, “You don’t need to be a thief; let me give you my money.” The thief thought Stanley was trying to trick him, became angry, grabbed his wallet and ran away. Not the same outcome as Julio’s story but the same heart behind both.

    I second your title.

  3. No problem. I’ve shared that story with as many people as possible. And it gives me hope knowing that sometimes, when you return evil with good, reconciliation and redemption happens, which is something that doesn’t happen when one uses violent force to defend property or life.

  8. Wasn’t it Mr. T who once encouraged me to treat my mugger right?

    Something like that, anyway.

Great story. Thanks for sharing it.
